Eligble Voters
You can vote, if on election day you are:
- A Canadian Citizen
- 18 years of age or older
- Residing in Penetanguishene; or an owner or tenant of land in Penetanguishene; or the spouse of such owner or tenant
- Not otherwise prohibited from voting
Ineligible Voters
You cannot vote if:
- You are serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution; or
- You are a person convicted of a corrupt practice for an election held within four years of the voting day; or
- A corporation; or
- If you are a person who is acting as an executor or in any other representative capacity (e.g., power of attorney) you cannot vote on behalf of the person you are representing unless you have been appointed as a voting proxy.

Where and When to Vote
Election day is October 25, 2010 from 10am to 8pm. Voting takes place at James Keating Elementary School, 20 Lorne Avenue (corner of Robert Street East and Lorne Avenue). Info about advanced voting dates is here or on the Town's website.
Bring ID
All voters must bring a voters card to the polls (if they received one) along with ID such as a drivers license. It is important to bring ID showing your name, address and signature. Mistakes in voters lists (such as missing names of voters) are not uncommon.
Acceptable ID includes:
- An Ontario Drivers License
- An Ontario Health Card (Photo Card Only)
- An Ontario Motor Vehicle Permit (Plate Portion)
- A cancelled personalized cheque (presumably a legible image of same returned by the bank would be acceptable)
- A mortgage, lease, or rental agreement
- An insurance policy
- A loan or financial agreement with a financial institution
- A document issued or certified by a court in Ontario
- Any document from a Band Council in Ontario established under the Indian Act (Canada)
Note: Documents must show the person's name, qualifying address and signature.
